Manistee Skatepark at Sands Park

While driving into Manistee for lunch, we saw a skatepark by the elementary school and doubled back after eating to check it out. The ramps were all Woodward prebuilts with skatelite surfaces. The ramps were in fine shape, but the ground was in an awful state. After dropping in, you fly until you hit its uneven bumpiness, slowing you down considerably if you are even able to stay on your board. The half-pipe was nice because you did not have to worry about the awful ground, but other than that, it was hard to use for skateboarding. It would be great for riding BMX, but even a scooter would struggle to use the ground here, I think. There is a DIY setup on the nearby tennis court, but that was just a box and a non-grounded rail. The park was a fun place to spend a bit of time skating and is worth stopping if you are able to skate a half-pipe or can deal with bumpy terrain. The skatepark is located within Sands Park, which has a baseball field, playground, tennis courts, and a teen rec center.
