North Point County Park

Nestled within this little county park located just north of Van Buren State Park is one of my favorite sand dunes in Michigan. After about a quarter mile of trail, you are greeted with one of the best views of Lake Michigan our state has to offer. If the view gets your blood pumping and you do decide to run down the dune to the water's edge like the maniac you are inside, you’re in for a hell of a good time and a hell of a climb back up to the top afterward. That was quite the run-on sentence, but once you run down the dune, you’ll understand why it was necessary. The park is just under 20 acres, but in the warmer months, you could spend a whole day here. The parking area is small, but I have seen people park on the side of Ruggles Road (5 Star Highway) without any issues. Bring your sunscreen, lunch, and water to enjoy everything North Point has to offer!
