Saugatuck Dunes State Park

I have been to Saugatuck Dunes State Park a number of times in my life, with a number of different people, in every season Michigan has to offer, and I have always enjoyed my time there. The park itself is over 1000 acres of woods, dunes, and pristine Michi Gami shoreline. From the parking area, you can take a quick hike to the lake if you want, but I much prefer the longer routes through the woods to get to the lake. Located within the park is the Patty Birkholz Natural Area, boasting over 300 acres of coastal dunes that are being preserved by the Land Conservatory of West Michigan. Located just 5 miles north of downtown Saugatuck, the park is perfect for a day of hiking, a picnic getaway, a sunset beach walk, or a place to just get out and stretch your legs.
