River Road RV Park & Campground

We camped at River Road RV Park & Campground for 5 nights while exploring Ontonagon, the Porcupine Mountains, Misery Bay, and the Keweenaw Peninsula. The prices for a tent site were very reasonable, and the spaces were spread out. Most of the sites at the park were tailored for RVs, but the six rustic tent sites in the back were very lovely. The campground is right on the Ontonagon River and has a small playground, a laundry room, bathrooms, showers, and wifi. I cannot vouch for the speed of the WiFi as we did not use it, but I will say that we had great cell service at the campground. I even found and applied for a job on my phone while we were there, trying to develop a resume while sitting by the fire. Everything at River Road RV Park & Campground was reasonable, and the $5 bundle of wood gave more wood than most do for the same price. I had never heard of this campground before we decided we wanted to visit Ontonagon, but I would definitely recommend it. You cannot reserve online, but you can over the phone. We walked to the Ontonagon Railroad Bridge and Riverfront Park, stargazed from our campsite, did laundry halfway through the trip, let the kids play on the playground with other campers, and enjoyed the Ontonagon River. The campground is not as remote as those in the Porcupine Mountains, but if the State Park is full or you want to be a little closer to town, River Road is the place to be.
