Bayfront Park (Petoskey)
There is a long, meandering park just west of where the Bear River dumps into the Little Traverse Bay that has a little bit of everything. A baseball diamond with water views, lots of green space, walking paths, bathrooms, a stocked fishing pond for kids to learn to fish, a man-made waterfall, and a long, winding, and beautiful shoreline are just a few of the things that make this place special. This was our last stop on our way out of town, and I wish we had been able to stay longer, but I am happy we were able to see it. The park offers views of the breakwater and lighthouse, the bay, and pieces of the City of Petoskey. The Little Traverse Wheelway runs through the park, so in theory, you could start here and go all the way to Harbor Springs or Charlevoix. Great picnicking spots are all over this park, and if you are in Petoskey, it really is worth a visit.
