Beatrice Falls

Beatrice Falls is a single cascade on the Gratiot River just west of Cliff Drive. Although these falls are not the most triumphant falls in the Keweenaw Peninsula, they mark a great place to stop and get out of the car while enjoying the ride down Cliff Drive. Park just before or after the bridge and walk to the south side of the guard rail on the east side of the road to find a small worn path that leads you down to the water. The water above the falls pools and is rumored to be good for fishing. The cascade is easy to wade out to, and the water is quite refreshing. The bugs are pretty bad here, so be prepared for that. You can access the east side of the Gratiot River from Cliff Drive as well, as there is a small path on the southeast side of the bridge down to the water. The falls were named after a really nice dog named Beatrice, who enjoyed the falls when she visited some time ago.
