Overlooked Falls

Overlooked Falls is an easily accessible waterfall just off South Boundary Road via Little Carp River Road. After parking in the Little Carp River Parking area, we hiked just over a quarter mile until we reached a small bridge crossing the river. Just before the bridge, there is a sign for Overlooked Falls and a path jutting off to the left. If you are looking, you can see the falls from the trail, but if you weren’t paying attention or the sign wasn’t there, you might overlook these falls (ha, ha). We brought water shoes and were able to wade through the water to get a nice view of the falls and cool down on a hot day. There are two sections of the falls, and I thought the upper section was more picturesque, but I did enjoy the lower section as well. Although these falls are not as triumphant as some of the falls in the Western Upper Peninsula, being able to walk in and around the falls was amazing and is the reason these falls are high on my waterfall list. After exploring Overlooked Falls, we continued on the Little Carp River Trail for three-quarters of a mile to Greenstone Falls, which I would recommend to anyone visiting Overlooked Falls.
