Muskegon State Park Beach
Muskegon State Park was established in 1923 after the state purchased over 800 acres of former logging land from a private company on the shores of Lake Michigan just north of the Muskegon Channel. Today, the park features hiking trails, camping, fishing, and pristine beaches. I have not had the opportunity to explore most of the park yet, but I have had the pleasure of visiting the beach on a few occasions. The parking lot rolls right into the beach and features a large bathhouse that has modern bathrooms. The beach sprawls all the way to the Muskegon Channel, and it isn’t uncommon to find patrons playing beach volleyball, building sand castles, or enjoying Lake Michigan’s chilly water. I am excited to come back and enjoy this beach again, and hopefully, I will have time to see more of the park next time!
