Miner’s Castle Point

Miner’s Castle Point is the most accessible part of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and probably one of the most recognizable. The parking lot is a short walk from the upper and lower overlooks. The upper overlook offers a view of Grand Island, Lake Superior, and Miner’s Castle Point. The lower overlook takes you right on top of the point itself, once again offering breathtaking views of Grand Island and Lake Superior. While walking down to the platform, to the right, you can see the dramatic cliffs of the National Lakeshore in the distance and Miner’s Beach below you. The road to Miner’s Castle Point is not maintained in the winter, but we were able to make it in mid-March due to the tracks from previous vehicles. Miner’s Falls is a short detour off Miner’s Castle Road.
